4. Korean Culture

Actually there are some similarities between Chinese culture and Korea culture. For example, we celebrate Lunar New Year, Mid-Autumn Festival together. "Hanja" was used by Korean before the creation of "Hangul". These cause me feel more interested to Korea culture.

I like their Hanbok. It really looked nice and pretty. It can show the elegant of a girl when she is wearing it. I really hope I can have chance to wear it.

Pansori (판소리)

Pansori is a genre of Korean traditional music. It is a vocal and percussional music performed by one sorikkun (Korean: 소리꾼, a singer) and one gosu (a drummer playing a barrel drum called buk Korean: ). The term pansori is derived from pan (Korean: , meaning "a place where many people gather"), and sori (Korean: 소리, meaning "sound").

Chunhyangga is the most famous pansori in Korea, having had considerable popularity in the country for the past century. Chunhyangga is considered to be the best pansori musically, and as a work of literature and play.

We can watch Chunhyangga pansori(춘향) performance by Sungmin and Hyorin here.

Hangul

Hangul, the Korean alphabet, is the native alphabet of the Korean language. It is a separate script from Hanja, the logographic Chinese characters which are also sometimes used to write Korean. Hangul is a true alphabet of 24 consonant and vowel letters. However, instead of being written sequentially like the letters of the Latin alphabet, Hangul letters are grouped into blocks, such as han; each of these blocks transcribes a syllable. That is, although may look like a single character, it is composed of three distinct letters: h, a, and n. Each Hangul block consists of two to five letters, including at least one consonant and one vowel. I'm still learning Hangul now. You can speak Korean if you memorize the Hangul chart.
